A Brief histrory about Streatham

In Georgian times, Streatham was the home of Henry and Hester Thrale, who entertained the philosopher Edmund Burke, the author Fanny Burney, the painter Sir Joshua Reynolds and the great lexicographer Dr Samuel Johnson, among others in their mansion, Streatham Place.

Norbury


A Brief histrory of Norbury

Norbury is a suburb in South London. Although it bears a London postal code (SW16) it is actually part of the London Borough of Croydon.

Norbury is the birth place of Kingsley Amis who died in 1995. Father of novellist Martin Amis, Kingsley Amis wrote Lucky Jim and several other novels and non-fiction works.

Norbury is also mentioned in the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries.
