Following the government's recapitalisation of many of the high street banks and with the Bank of England base rate reduced to 2%, its lowest level since 1951, borrowing money has never been so inexpensive. First time buyers realise this is a genuine opportunity to climb onto the housing housing ladder, but the bank's insistence on sizeable deposits and a reluctance to pass on the full interest rate cuts within their mortgage rates are still proving obstacles to the revitalizing the housing market. On a positive note, numbers of applicants registering their details has increased so if you are thinking of marketing your property for sale their are some encouraging signs for 2009. |
